A driver is a software which allow the Computer and Operating system to communicate with input-output hardware or devices. Operating system comes with basic drivers which allow the peripheral devices such as keyboard and mouse, to work without installing the driver.

The OS doesn’t have drivers for all devices, thus to interact with computer or OS (Linux, MAC, Windows)  the device manufacturers offers a driver software with the device. By installing the driver the computer start recognizing the hardware, its functions and various operations it can perform.

To connect a printer to a laptop or computer we must first install its drivers so that computer system can recognize it and its functions.
